Patio Umbrella Lights — Choices

When it comes to adding some bling to your backyard, the purchase of Patio umbrella lights can really add to a yards visual appeal.  These devices are not as commonly used as they should be.  This article briefly discusses the different types of umbrella lights available.

The first type of umbrella light is the stem light.  These are by far the easiest to install after market.  Generally they come in two pieces which clip together around the ‘stem’ of the umbrella at whatever point you find most appealing.  The use of LED bulbs in these lights allows a warm circle of light to be projected around the base of the umbrella.

A second option in umbrella lighting is view mounted lighting.  These are a little harder to install, but can be very attractive.  Somewhat similar to Christmas lights, they take the form of strings of lights which you attach to the veins of the umbrella itself.  At the center of the umbrella they join together and are plugged into an external power source.  These units are also available built in to some new umbrellas.  So if you are buying an umbrella you can save yourself some headache on installation by planning ahead with your purchase.

Finally, if energy costs are a concern, solar umbrella lights are a third option.  These lights draw power from a solar panel on the umbrella during the day, and use the power to run the lights in the evening.  While solar technology still has a ways to go, this can be a great option if your umbrella is not handy to a power outlet.

As you can see, there is no shortage of options when it comes to purchasing Patio umbrella lights.  Whatever option you choose you are certain to find that the extra lighting in your yard improves its looks.
